STATEMENT
Anton Pickard is a multifaceted artist and educator based in Ontario, Canada, specializing in fine art photography, videography, animation, graphic design, and immersive media. With a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University and professional development at the Banff Centre for the Arts, he has exhibited widely across Ontario and Alberta, including solo exhibitions like “Still Waiting” at Double Door Studios & Gallery and group shows such as “WatershedSci” at the Orillia Museum of Art and History.
As a full-time faculty member in the Design & Visual Art department at Georgian College since 2003, he imparts his extensive knowledge in content creation, photography, graphic design, and web design. His commitment to lifelong learning is evident through certifications like PhaseOne Certified Professional and Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop.
Anton’s artistic practice explores the convergence of digital and analog techniques, with recent ventures into A.I. generative art and virtual reality. His work has been recognized with awards such as the James Bailey Award from New Adventures in Sound Art in 2023, honoring his inventive contributions to sound art.
Beyond his personal artistic endeavors, Anton actively contributes to community projects, including collaborations with Huronia Players and Huronia Historical Parks. His dedication to art education and preservation is further demonstrated through workshops, artist talks, and involvement in initiatives like the Oro-Medonte Rail Trail Sign project, where he applied his expertise in graphic design and photo restoration.
Through his diverse skills and passion for art, Anton continues to inspire and engage both students and the broader community, fostering an appreciation for the transformative power of visual and immersive media.
